Who we are

The Story So Far

Once upon a time in the year 1993, Rosalind Georgeson was at a party. As the adults enjoyed themselves, the large gang of kids present got bored. Thinking on her feet, Rozzy started to tell them a story, and to her surprise they started acting it out around her...

It was here that the idea of Dragon Drama was born; inspired by children and their imaginations - a limitless playground of wonder which fused stories with improvisation. A space to be free.

Decades later, Dragon Drama remains an artistic pillar of the community, and although our scope has broadened, the ethos remains the same: children thrive when free from fear of failure. Every child deserves the room to be exactly who they want to be.

Rossy Georgeson - Artistic Director

One of Rossy’s first memories of the theatre was being made assistant stage manager at Liverpool Playhouse (aged 10) and placing her troll onstage for a performance of Hedda Gabler! Rossy’s love of Theatre (that smell of promise that all theatres have) was born in the 1970s when Improvisation (and Pink Floyd) ruled! She completed her education with a Single Honours Degree in Drama at Aberystwyth University, where her roles included Hermia in Mid- summer Nights Dream and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth. She went on to perform in The Bacchae at Edinburgh Festival, as the Grandmother in Bernada Alba, and Ariel in The Tempest at the Orange Tree Theatre.

Rossy started Dragon Drama with an ethos to share the magic of theatre and to help children have no fear of failure, a mission that has become her life’s work. Rossy knows each child by name and glories in the individuality that each child brings to DD.

Harry Bell - Workshop Leader

Harry has led Dragon Drama’s reach in directions previously undiscovered, now running workshops in additional locations, and developing new methods of creative learning with the Junior and Youth workshops. 'The Village', an interactive, immersive experience Harry pioneered involves children forming a community and making decisions according to their characters, based on unexpected events. A acrobatic force of nature, Harry is much loved amongst the Dragons and commonly thought of as everyone’s favourite big-Dragon-brother.

Alongside his work with Dragon Drama, Harry is studying Childhood and Youth Studies, planning to complete a Masters degree in Play Therapy.

Neil Nisbet - LAMDA Tutor & Company Member

Having tread the boards as an actor across the country for many years (Bristol Old Vic, Newcastle Playhouse, Shakespeare at Barnwell Castle, and most recently “The Dream Of Gerontius” with one of Dragon Drama’s patrons Robert Hardy) Neil brings a unique and sophisticated brand of old school classicism to proceedings at Dragon Drama.

Whether performing in IYAF productions, jumping into various roles at the workshops or providing LAMDA tuition, his skill and experience are a valuable resource to Dragons and team members alike.

This mission has become her life’s work, and brought with it the opportunity to see many little Dragons grow into big ones, each taking a little bit of magic, mystery and mayhem with them...

Florence Bell - Workshop Leader
